Drone Laws in Belgium
Yes. EU/EASA pilots use their home registration; non-EU visitors register with the DGLV/BCAA; insurance required including for visitors.
Belgium applies the EASA framework through the BCAA, with a 120 m limit and a Droneguide geo-zone system that heavily restricts Brussels.

- Register for any drone with a camera or over 250g (min age 16); operator ID on every drone. Liability insurance mandatory for professional use.
- Remote ID
- Mandatory since 1 Jan 2024 for C1/C2/C3 drones.
- Maximum altitude
- 120 m.
- Line of sight
- VLOS in the Open category; beyond needs a DGLV Specific authorisation.
- No-fly and distance rules
- Geo-zone system (Droneguide): no-fly near airports, military bases, NATO HQ, EU institutions, the Royal Palace, prisons and nuclear sites; nature reserves generally no-fly. Request controlled airspace via the DAA platform.
- Commercial and paid work
- Same Open/Specific framework; commercial/higher-risk needs a Specific authorisation plus insurance.
- Notable restrictions
- Brussels is heavily restricted (EU/NATO/royal sites).
- Penalties
- Fines and possible imprisonment/confiscation under aviation law.
